Mine was delicious.
Every year gets a little easier. Some years I have been HUGELY pregnant. Some years, I spend the whole dinner sitting on the couch nursing. Other years, sticking Gerber's pureed turkey and rice into a squalling baby's mouth. Or keeping a toddler from falling down the basement stairs.
This year, all my kids can feed themselves, drink out of cups and navigate the stairs. They ate what was on their plates, put napkins on their laps and even asked to be excused from the table.
I am a living testament. IT DOES GET EASIER!
The extended family dynamics, however, never seem to get easier. EVERYONE is an expert on how you should be raising, disciplining, feeding, hairstyling your kids. So let me just say it here:
I LOVE YOU. NOW BACK OFF.

Ummm... Not like yours. ;)
Seriously, this is such a universal idea that SO many family members need to hear! :)
I'm awful with giving unsolicited child rearing advice - but hairstyles? Seriously, your relatives giving hairstyling advice need to get a hobby.
Oh, you're right, it does get easier. I've spent many holidays just like you said and I'm finding it hard to believe that's over now. It seemed like it would go on forever at the time, and of course, now I miss it. I laughed about the unsolicited advice. I don't get it anymore. Either I'm too old, or because I have so many kids, they've given up :-)
Blessings,
Marcia
Oh man, my father-in-law had the audacity to tell us that Lucas shouldn't just watch TV all day, that he needs to get out and play. This from the man who literally NEVER turns off the TV (even when he leaves the house, I swear) and who lives in a house where there is ONE room for us all to hang out in--the room with his VERY LOUD TV on ALL the time. Plus, he has dozens of movies lined up for Lucas to watch on every visit. I replied (I'll admit, in a not very nice tone) that Lucas watches as much TV at their house as he does in THREE WEEKS at our house. UGH!

Go ahead. I can take it.
