Womens Wear Daily

It is NO SECRET that I am not a fashionista, but I am trying. I am honing my ability to identify trends and those things I should steer clear of.

Recently, I got an email advertising this jacket for sale at Coldwater Creek.

Is it just me, or does this look like a bad acid wash accident. Remember this?

I'm cringing just looking at this. I did indeed have the acid-wash denim ensemble (minus the fringe... fringe has never been part of my repetoire). And my 80s hair was short, but it WAS big. (Not this big, but bigger than it should have been.)

As I was surfing around at my favorite online stores, I found these pants at Chicos:

(Sorry, Chicos. You know I love you, but oh! my!) Never buy pants in the same fabric you would consider for upholstry.

And what about this dress, from Old Navy?

Is it just me, or can you see it? The triangular-shaped stripe that looks like underpants? Hello? Old Navy? What the hell?

I did see something interesting the other day when I was hanging out at a McDonald's playland in a swanky neighborhood. I am not a fan of the visible bra strap, on really anyone, but especially not anyone over 30. Another mom was wearing something like this with a cami over it.

Can you see that? Invisible bra straps! Pretty ingenious. I wish I thought of it, because I'm sure someone has make a small fortune with this technology. Actually, it got me thinking of other invisible clothing that might be a hidden gold mine.

Spanx. (I love my Spanx.) These can be a mom's best friend.

What about INVISIBLE SPANX?

You know these pants?

But, if you had Invisible Spanx, you could wear the ever fashionable low-rise jeans and still protect yourself from Muffin Top Syndrome.

I'm just not sure what all that fat would look like when it's all squished up inside the Spanx.

  1. This was funny. McDonald's playland in a swanky neighborhood? Awesome. Only thing better is a Chick-fil-A in a swanky neighborhood.

  2. sweet lord this was funny. methinks the 80s are creeping back into fashion, and not the good stuff of the 80s like leg warmers and topsiders and izods...er, wait good fashion/80s? : ) the 80s are my decade but those looks need to stay there.
i would LOVE some invisible spanx though!
