The party is held at a big pool, but not our pool, so the whole "keeping the kids from drowning" thing takes on a special level of skill since I am less familiar with this pool. But, it was another success. I came with four kids and I went home with four kids. The same four even! They played and swam and ate
By the end, I was exhausted. Of course, the last few days have been pretty tiring, what with doctoring, pool party supply shopping, class picnics, teacher gift shopping, pre-kindergarten testing, carpooling, playdating, awards assembly attending, farewell-to-the-principal-wine-and-cheesing. Other than the doctor's appointment, I have done about 3000 2-mile trips up and down the same road in the last three days and my fuel light is on for the THIRD time. (Sorry, kids. We planned to send you to college, but we spent all your money at Exxon.)
Now, they're in bed. Sacked out. Little One was beyond tired. She tried to work herself up into a good frenzy. "I'm HUNGRY," got her nowhere. "I'm THIRSTY," got her a little cup of water. "I'm ITCHY," was what she ended up screaming over and over again until she finally collapsed in a near-naked, scratched up heap in her bed.
And here I sit. In a Life is Good t-shirt with some yellow-ish stains of unknown origin. Some black, free-form capri-thingies that I got at Target... kinda thinking they were "yoga pants" when really they are "pajama pants" at best. And... brace yourselves... a lovely Futuro compression support sock on each leg (because standing in the heat for hours on end makes my legs swell and aren't I sexay?... there's not even a picture of these on the internet, they are so ugly) and my brand new fur-lined Crocs, which were on sale because they are wintery but they are oh so comfortable and I am tired and must be comfortable. And yes, I know. A completely embarrassing ensemble. WhatEVER.
And now, in a maneuver I have not attempted since the last time I was in the first trimester of a pregnancy, I plan to go to bed before
